Why Monster of the Week?

We love Monster of the Week for its simple mechanics and the way they intentionally drive the narrative forward with every roll. Natalie also finds Monster of the Week is much more conducive to her personal GM style, and much easier to prepare sessions for, compared to other games that require a lot of stat blocks and dungeon designs. When Natalie can focus on character motivations, and the interconnected nature of the plots in our show, we can’t argue with the results. For our audio production, all these factors combine to help us create compelling characters and exciting adventures. We hope you agree.

What’s up with the crickets?

Everyone starts somewhere, especially in the world of podcasting. In our early days of recording, we were just a group of friends with a lot of enthusiasm for fantasy stories and roleplaying games, and way less knowledge about podcast-making and digital audio than we have now. Our cricket friends aren’t in too many episodes, but they do pop up in the earlier adventures now and then. We’ve been told they’re charming, and if nothing else, they are a glimpse back in time to when we were recording in the summer with our windows open, and telling this story as a way to find joy in the midst of quarantining through a global pandemic.

Why are all the monsters in your show so attractive???

We love a fun and flirty NPC, and that includes the monstrous ones. For a more in-depth answer, you’ll have to take this question up with Natalie. Or maybe you need to examine your own standards for what constitutes a fictional character being attractive.  … Wait, actually, which characters are YOU thinking of?
